Bruno Bronosky
Principal DevOps Automation Engineer and Trainer

About

Born in the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia to a radio electronics technician, Bruno grew up in coal mining country where most of his classmates remain. He never threw a ball with his father, though they did attend a handful of Cincinnati Reds baseball games. They spent their nights and weekends soldering Heathkit projects from Radio Shack (my first computer was a Heathkit H89) and writing games and equation solvers in Borland Turbo Basic, then Turbo Pascal, and eventually Delphi. When calling his father in 1995 to tell him Bruno got his first professional programming gig, they both saw this like getting drafted into MLB. Every day Bruno feels like "the luckiest man in baseball" to have escaped the coal mines.

Habitat for Humanity International
2013 – Present
Roofing Skill Supervisor
I started out as a Cox employee volunteering for a single day on a Clark Howard build. It was Day 1, so I came back every weekend to see the whole project completed. (Because I'm that kind of person.) At the end of the build the leader said, "Great! Now that you've completed the 7 week training, pick a specialty so we can get you certified and put you to work." So, I didn't really set out to be a supervisor, but it has been one of the best experiences of my life.
